Reference chart
The exact 10×10 letter or mixed chart used for every coordinate.
Print at 100% scale. A one-inch check line is included on every page.
Feedback will open on the permanent domain. The preview stores and sends nothing.
Some online encoders output coordinates but leave you to find a separate chart. That is risky because Hart Chart layouts vary. This maker generates the reference, activity and key from one fixed layout.
The exact 10×10 letter or mixed chart used for every coordinate.
Coordinates, answer spaces, directions and an optional name line.
The same coordinate sequence with the decoded characters shown.
See how the maker turns a real message into a matched three-page decoding activity. This worked example encodes READ WITH A PARTNER across 16 coded letters and 3 word spaces using the matching reference chart (Chart ID: atlas-letters-v1). The reference chart, student worksheet and answer key share the exact same coordinates.
The matching reference chart (Chart ID: atlas-letters-v1) with rows A–J and columns 0–9. It must accompany the worksheet because other Hart Charts place letters differently.
16 coordinate boxes organized by word with a student name line, standard directions and a 1-inch scale check line. The printable 3-page PDF formats coordinates into numbered word groups for clear decoding, while the PNG download displays horizontal word lines with spaces between words.
The instructor reference pairing each coordinate with its solved letter in red, verified against matching reference chart atlas-letters-v1, plus the full decoded message banner.
Coordinates are matched to the reference chart (Chart ID: atlas-letters-v1). For READ, Row B Column 9 is R (B9), Row B Column 6 is E (B6), Row F Column 3 is A (F3), and Row F Column 0 is D (F0). Repeating letters use different cells on the chart, word spaces remain spaces, and the matching reference chart must accompany the worksheet and answer key.
